Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor best recognized for her role as Detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue in which she was awarded an Emmy Award. Her appearances include All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. Born as the only daughter to a senior executive of the United Auto Workers and a housewife, Delaney was raised with four brothers. When she was a kid, Delaney dreamed of becoming an official reporter for the court. The first time she began modeling was at the age of 14 and later landed commercials when she moved to New York. She starred in 1981 as an innocent teen in the film All My Children. Her career as an actor has been awash with numerous television films and dramas. In contrast to her successful professional life, Delaney's personal one is not as content and successful. The accomplished actor has struggled with alcoholism and she has experienced two marriages that failed. The year 2005 was the time she lost custody of her only child that she had.
