Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March on the 26th of March, 1991. She is an American musician and singer. She was the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. In October 21st, 2016 she dropped Pho, her first EP for the Dreamville Records label. That was the day she gained her first recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began posting her music to the internet in 2012 as she released her debut mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography In 2013. In 2014, she continued to share her music over the internet, including her self release single Bound. The track Sweat it is part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville team at the time was interested in having her create Rihanna references. The news was released on December 8 that she was signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat, a track she recorded alongside Cozz in The Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. The singer released Pho, her debut EP on Oct 21 the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017 in which she was supported by EarthGang. In 2018, she appeared in two tracks, including the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video for it was also released on September 5th. On November 9 she dropped two more singles: the 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Two singles more were released on the 11th of November Pedigree and No One. She then appeared on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16 and released as a single on the 26th of February, 2019, to accompany her debut album with the same title. The track was accompanied by an accompanying music video that debuted that was released on February 20, 2019, and it surpassed the milestone of 3 million views on YouTube within its first seven days. In December of 2018 she performed on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
